FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about converting images online, from HEIC photos to WEBP, PNG, JPG and PDF.

Yes. It's completely free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limits. Convert as many images as you like, as often as you like.

Upload your HEIC files, choose JPG as the output format and click Convert. Then download each photo or all of them in one ZIP. It works on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone, so you don't need extra software to open iPhone photos.

It depends on the format. Converting to PNG doesn't lose any more detail, while JPG, WEBP and AVIF use lossy compression, so a little detail can be lost. Use the Quality slider (the Max preset keeps the most detail), and try not to convert the same JPG again and again, because each save can lower quality a bit.

No uploads happen. The conversion runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device and nothing is stored on our servers. That makes it a safe choice for personal photos and work files.

Yes. Add up to 100 images per batch, convert them together and download everything as a single ZIP file. It's a quick way to bulk convert photos, for example turning a whole folder of PNG files into WEBP for your website.

You can open JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF, ICO and HEIC files, and export them as JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, BMP, ICO or PDF. AVIF export depends on your browser, so the option only appears where it's supported.

For most websites, WEBP is the better choice. The files are often smaller than JPG at similar quality, which helps your pages load faster. JPG is still the safest option for email and sharing because it opens everywhere. If you're optimising for speed, convert your photos to WEBP and keep the originals as a backup.

Open Settings and enter a maximum file size in KB. The converter lowers the quality automatically until the file fits, which works for JPG, WEBP and AVIF. You can also resize the image or pick the Smallest quality preset. If the target can't be reached, the result is marked with a short note so you know.

JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background colour. It's white by default and you can pick another colour in Settings. If you need to keep the transparency, convert to PNG, WEBP or AVIF instead.

Yes. Choose PDF as the output format, convert your images, then click “Merge into one PDF”. Each image becomes its own page in a single document.

Animated GIFs are converted into a still image using the first frame, so the animation isn't kept. If you need the movement, keep the original GIF file.

Yes. The converter is fully responsive and runs in your mobile browser on both iPhone and Android, so there's nothing to install. On some phones, very large photos may be scaled down slightly to fit the device's memory.
